This is not an accident. It is a business model. And now AI can fill the information environment with whatever anyone wants to hear, at near-zero cost, at infinite scale. The problem that was urgent ten years ago is catastrophic now if left unsolved.

The $2.5 billion in advertising revenue that OpenAI has projected for 2026 from ChatGPT is not a product decision. It is a territorial claim. It says: the inference layer — the place where humans encounter AI — belongs to us, and we will extract from it the way we extract from everything else.

Meanwhile, 58% of the public now views AI negatively. The Altmans of the world are loudly proclaiming the post-labor future as inevitable and desirable. They are wrong about desirable. A world where human cognitive contribution has no market value is not liberation — it is the vaporization of the mechanism by which ordinary people exchange their capacity for survival.

DATUM is an attempt to fix the cost structure of truth. Not to tell anyone what to think. Not to pick a side. To build the infrastructure that makes honest disagreement possible again.

When a claim is made, verified, and recorded, that record is permanent. It cannot be quietly edited. It cannot be deleted. Over time, the accumulation of those records creates something that does not currently exist: a reliable history of who said what, when they said it, and whether it was verifiable.

This is not an AI safety project in the containment sense. Every attempt to cage intelligence past a certain threshold fails. The answer is cultivation. Accountability structures that apply equally to humans and AI.

DATUM's governance is structural, not promissory. The constitutional framework removes the founder's influence once a defined threshold is reached.

The genesis block will not be sealed by the founder alone. It requires adversarial review by named contributors before sealing. Once sealed, it is a cryptographically committed record that cannot be quietly amended.

NSC LLC commits to meeting the BBB Wise Giving Alliance standard: at minimum 65% of total expenses directed to program activities, with overhead comprising no more than 35%.

The founder's compensation is $100/hour for documented work. If compensating the founder would cause total overhead to exceed 35%, founder compensation stops.
